Prospective Students
Mentoring is the hallmark of Maryland’s African American Studies Department. The department affords numerous opportunities for faculty to guide the development of AASD students, from the intensive one-on-one thesis experience under faculty guidance to the sharing of professional or career-oriented experiences.

Society of African American Studies
The Society of African American Studies was established with the sole purpose of enlightening and educating the campus and surrounding community about African American issues, debates, culture and heritage.
